The Manurere is Fai Va'a's latest Va'a Toru — a three-man Tahitian outrigger canoe — designed to deliver outstanding performance both in calm waters and in the surf. True to its name, Manurere (“to take flight”), this canoe captures the feeling of freedom and exhilaration when paddling with friends in the surf.
Our previous V3 design, launched in 2008, quickly became the reference in both open-ocean marathon racing and sprint competition. It also established itself as an essential training tool for clubs and a favorite among friends for fitness or surf sessions. With that canoe now present in clubs across Tahiti, the islands, and internationally, we gathered invaluable feedback from paddlers in every corner of the world and in every type of condition. After years of observation, reflection, and testing, it was time to evolve. The result is the Manurere V3 — a canoe designed to perform everywhere, from glassy lakes in Aotearoa to powerful downwind runs in Maui.
Refined PerformanceThe Manurere is the lightest V3 ever built with the Pro version hull coming in under 72.8lbs | 33kg. It has a sleek, narrow hull for unmatched top speed, quick acceleration, and seamless transitions between bumps on downwind runs. It also has a higher freeboard to keep water out in rough conditions and features our new iako rigging mechanism that debuted with the Hydra V6 which allows the Manurere to rig double-hull. It features a newly designed ama that avoids the the “sticky” feel and swamping issues common in older V3 ama designs. And it comes with newly designed, ultralight footbraces.
Ideal Training CanoeThe Manurere the ultimate training platform for clubs. After all, you can't hide on a V3. With three paddlers aboard, each athlete experiences the essential roles of a six-man crew: stroker, engine, and steersman. This makes the Manurere ideal for club teams refining technique and teamwork and for six- or nine-man crews forming smaller units to train and compete against one another.
And beyond training and racing, the Manurere is also pure fun: perfect for surfing, fishing trips, family outings on the ocean, and for friends looking to enjoy the surf together.
Standard and ProThe Manurere comes in two versions: Standard and Pro. Manurere Pros are made as light as possible without compromising the strength needed for the roughest channel conditions. Standard Manurere are purposefully overbuilt for extra durability when needed. STANDARDStandard Manurere are there for when you want an extra level of durability like for heavy club use.
Both Standard and Pro Manurere can be any of 16 colors on the hull, ama, and logos in any combination you'd like. And you can add customizations, like a deck-hull split, a colored cockpit, graphics from our catalog, or ones of your own. Average WeightsHull and Accessories 86lbs 39kg Fully Rigged 100.3lbs 45.5kg PROManurere Pros are lighter than Standards by an average of 11lbs | 5kg.
Unlike with our small boats, you can customize Manurere Pros the same as Standards, using any colors and graphics you'd like. If you'd want extra weight savings, you can choose a pro paint color as well.
Manurere Pros also come with a set of UV-resistant marine canvas covers for the hull and ama for protection from long-term outdoor exposure. Average WeightsHull and Accessories 75lbs 34kg Fully Rigged 89.3lbs 40.5kg
Outriggerzone construction Outriggerzone canoes like the Manurere are unique in being built as a single, seamless piece, reducing weight and eliminating weak points like glue lines. Outriggerzone canoes are also made with prepreg carbon fiber, a construction method adopted from the aerospace industry, which has high-tempature-curing resin impregnated into it. This allows us to carefully control weight, eliminate dilutents, and deliver a canoe that doesn't deform over time.
